Master the trade of bricklaying and blocklaying. This apprenticeship reflects the trade qualified role of a bricklayer, blocklayer or paver who may have responsibility for undertaking heritage bricklaying, refractory bricklaying, bricklaying, blocklaying and paving work in residential, industrial and commercial contexts, in both existing and new constructions.

About Program

The bricklaying, blocklaying and paving industry strongly affirms that training and assessment leading to recognition of skills must be undertaken in a real or closely simulated workplace environment and this qualification requires all units of competency to be delivered and assessed in this context.

Completion of the general construction induction training program, specified in the Safe Work Australia model Code of Practice: Construction Work, is required by anyone carrying out construction work. Achievement of CPCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry meets this requirement.

Entry Requirements

The CPC33020 Certificate III in Bricklaying and Blocklaying allows direct entry into this qualification at the time of publication in training.gov.au. However, the Innoverse Institute requires candidates to meet its admission requirements prior to enrolling into this qualification to ensure that they have the required skills and knowledge to successfully complete the qualification at this AQF level. This consists of:

Evidence that they have studied in English for at least five years in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Republic of Ireland, South Africa, United Kingdom or United States

Evidence that, within two years of their application date, they have successfully completed in Australia a foundation course or a senior secondary certificate of education or successfully completed substantial components (50% or more units according to the training package) Certificate IV or higher level qualification, from the Australian Qualifications Framework on a student visa.

OR

Applicants originating from students visa assessment levels 1 and 2 countries without the required IELTS or equivalent score must undertake the Language, Literacy, Numeracy (LLN) Digital (D) literacy test. For further information on student visa assessment levels visit Department of Home Affairs’ website at www.homeaffairs.gov.au.

Applicants must undertake English Placement Test on campus

All International Students (onshore and offshore)

All international students are required to complete a Pre-Training Review, including an LLND assessment, to identify individual training needs. This process evaluates the learner’s previous education or training, relevant work experience, and the suitability and relevance of the course to their learning goals. This assessment may be
conducted via video call or phone call for both onshore and offshore students.

Note: Students must complete CPCWHS1001 – Prepare to work safely in the construction industry (or equivalent) unit before any construction site visits.
